Birding at Audru and Pikla polders
Every spring and autumn millions of birds migrate through Estonia and now is the best time for birding.
Saturday 04.04 we decided to visit two big polders near Pärnu city, Audru and Pikla.
The weather was great, it was mostly sunny. At one point it started to snow, but it did not last very long.
For the migrating birds, polders are great places to take a rest and eat, before they continue their long journey.
We saw a lot of interesting species, like Garganeis, Northern Pintails, Mallards, Eurasian Teals, Mute Swans, Whooper Swans, Greylag Geese, Barnacle Geese, Greater White-fronted Geese, Grey Herons, Great Egrets, Northern Lapwings, Starlings, Common Cranes and many other. Some of them will nest here in Estonia, but most Geese species will fly to northern areas of Europe.
